LWLA is excited to welcome Brett Schneiderman as our newest Senior Associate!
Brett joined LWLA in February of 2023 excited to work with people as passionate as he is about native plants. In his own words, Brett’s favorite aspects of design are “solving problems with vegetation, steering ecology and focusing on native plants.”
Brett holds a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University where he received an ASLA Honor award for leading the Hastings-on-Hudson Street Tree Inventory, engaging 100 local volunteers in educational activities and plant identification lessons.
Brett has long held an affinity for plants; prior to his career in Landscape Architecture, Brett worked as a nurseryman, a gardener, a farmer and an arborist. Since pivoting to design, Brett’s career has spanned many scales of the public sector. At NYC Parks he designed neighborhood parks and larger city-scale greenways. Brett also has experience at the residential scale from his time working at Margie Ruddick Landscape.
Since joining the LWLA team Brett has been a great resource for all things technical. He is involved with all phases of our landscape design projects from start to finish. He has focused on hardscape and drainage techniques integrated with natural systems on residential, commercial and public projects. In addition to his technical skills Brett is a natural mentor, always eager to lend a hand or redline a sketch. We’ve enjoyed seeing how Brett’s long-time passion for illustration and cartoons helps his thinking as he moves through the design process.
In addition to his design skills, our team is enjoying Brett’s office contributions: artwork, donuts and his dog Joey (our second office pup). Welcome, Brett!
