Refuge at elevation. An exemplar of urban greenspace.

On a rooftop in Greenpoint, a meadow grows. Kingsland Wildflowers sits above Brooklyn’s most heavily industrialized corridor, creating an oasis for nature seekers.

Planted above Broadway Stages film studio, the grant-funded project tasked LWLA — in collaboration with Alive Structures — with the revival of a local ecosystem, accomplished through color-rich annuals and biennials. The abundant matrix of pollinator-friendly blooms proves equally welcoming to New Yorkers for festivals, educational events and recurring open hours.

“A mini neighborhood oasis in a neglected pocket of industrial sites and gritty corners.”
