For this 132-acre research and educational facility, restoration work has relied on natural recruitment of the site’s existing native species, thereby protecting local ecotype.

Featuring upland woods and grassland, wooded ravines, and tidal habitats, the site faced weed invasion and intensive disturbance from prior clear cutting for development that never occurred.  As part of a detailed vision in a Landscape Master Plan, LWLA developed short-term habitat stabilization strategies as well as practical protocols for creating a matrix of habitat types over the long term, relying largely on natural recruitment of existing native species.

LWLA also provided graphic design services, including design of CNRC’s logo, trail signs, and trail map.
