History in the remaking.
Designed by America’s foremost female landscape architect, Beatrix Farrand, Dumbarton Oaks Park found the natural areas of the former estate colonized by overgrowth and invasive species in recent years. While its volunteer workforce and the Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy held no shortage of can-do, LWLA was enlisted to unify the meadow with predominantly native, identifiable species to help streamline its maintenance.
Upholding Farrand’s pastoral vision, our team reanimated a historic landscape with modern methods, diverting stormwater and reviving its native plantings in both the meadows and along the adjacent stream.
